3D Printer Filamentis a plastic filament material that melts and extrudes onto a flat surface, printed layer-by-layer, until it builds an object. Three dimensional printers follow plans laid out for them in specialized 3D software. You can either create your own designs with 3D printer filament, or download open source files from various sites in the 3D printing community. In most cases, the 3D software and the designs are completely free and open source. You can download them, open the designs within the software, and the prints begin.

- EXTRUDER HEAD – As explained above, this is what melts the plastic filament and lays it down on the printer bed. When comparing 3D printer kit prices or reviews, look for as fine a nozzle size as possible. This gets you the best details on your three dimensional print.
